Sam Petsonk is a 9th generation West Virginian and a lawyer who served as an advisor to U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd. Sam Petsonk currently works in his own private practice, where he focuses on labor and employment law, workplace safety and health, black lung benefits, retirees’ rights, the rights of people in recovery, and class action lawsuits to assist workers following layoffs. He was also the past president of the West Virginia Employment Lawyers Association. In 2013, he helped launched the Miner Safety and Health Project at Mountain State Justice from the Skadden Fellowship he received. Sam graduated from Washington & Lee University School of Law.
