FACT CHECK: Warren Petersen Lied to Arizonans on Debate Stage
September 24, 2026
Petersen yet again tried to hide his record and deceive Arizona voters
WASHINGTON, DC – Last night, Republican nominee for Attorney General Warren Petersen urged Arizona voters to “go back and read the quotes” after he denied saying he would deport DACA recipients and claimed to not be a fan of Trump’s disastrous tariffs.
Lucky for Petersen, we can.
LIE: “I never said you could deport DACA. I never told DACA they would be deported.”
THE TRUTH:

LIE: “She misquoted me on the tariffs. I’m actually not a fan of tariffs…I would prefer zero tariffs.”
THE TRUTH: Petersen told The Center Square he trusted Trump’s judgement on the tariffs, downplayed the impact tariffs would have on Arizonans’ pocketbooks, and said, “I see the tariffs as a tool to enact positive changes”
This is yet another example of how Petersen will always try to rewrite his record to hide his unpopular views. Arizonans deserve an AG who will always be truthful, and that is not Warren Petersen.
