Bad Week for Dan Bishop: Doubles Down on Mark Robinson Support, Promotes Lies about Crime Stats

North Carolina GOP AG candidate continues to support disgraced GOP Governor candidate, distributes false information on social media

Washington, DC – It’s not just the GOP Gubernatorial candidate in North Carolina that’s having a bad week. Mark Robinson’s “sidekick,” far-right extremist, and GOP nominee for Attorney General Dan Bishop is having a rough week himself.

According to The Washington Post, Rep. Bishop doubled down on his support for Robinson and falsely claimed Democrats had used hacking to obtain Robinson’s posts on a porn site. “The scandal engulfing Mark Robinson’s campaign for North Carolina governor seems career-ending to many in politics. At Donald Trump’s rally here this weekend, however, plenty of people weren’t bothered.”

In an interview with Anderson Cooper last week, Rep. Jeff Jackson responded to his opponent’s support for Robinson. “My opponent for attorney general is Dan Bishop,” Rep. Jackson said. “He said that Mark Robinson was a thoughtful and learned student of history who brings a fresh perspective and he wants to be his sidekick as attorney general.”

This week, controversy seemed to follow Bishop as he has come under fire for sharing false information about FBI crime data on X, and then deleting it. According to The Charlotte Observer, “Bishop shared an X post from right-wing personality Greg Price that falsely said FBI data claimed there were zero homicides in Los Angeles and New Orleans last year…”

The article continues, “Bishop campaign aide Jim Blaine on Tuesday declined to directly address the now-deleted social media post from his boss…Bishop’s spokesperson, Pat Ryan, did not answer questions Tuesday about why Bishop shared the post or whether Bishop believed the FBI’s statistics.”

Dan Bishop is not an honest guy. He supports Mark Robinson and promoted lies about the FBI’s violent crime stats. North Carolina, this is not who you want as your Attorney General.
