HAPPY WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH AG SPECIAL: For the first time in Michigan history, all elected statewide offices are held by women, including Democratic AG Dana Nessel. Check out this special coverage from the Detroit Free Press to learn more about how AG Nessel is moving the Michigan OAG forward!

SPOTLIGHT ON THE DISTRICT: DAGA Co-Chair District of Columbia AG Karl Racine was featured by Harry Jaffe in POLITICO Magazine on his efforts to challenge President Trump, lead the Emoluments lawsuit, and build a strong committee that elects Democratic AGs. If you haven’t yet, it’s time to “Meet the Man Curbing Trump’s Power Without Anyone Noticing.”

DEM AGS SAY “TIMES UP”: Democratic AGs across the country are stepping up to combat the history of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. Here is a recap of the latest efforts towards justice for victims and families:

• Pennsylvania AG Josh Shapiro was featured on NowThis presenting a four-pronged approach to stop future incidents with “predator priests.” Catch the full video for details.
• “Ask for their badge and not for their rosary.” Michigan AG Dana Nessel warns against “self-policing” and encourages survivors to report to law enforcement in this Bridge Michigan
• On Tuesday, Rhode Island AG Peter Neronha began a review process of sexual abuse allegations against the Church. Find our more from the Boston Globe’s coverage here.
• Colorado AG Phil Weiser announced an independent investigation of clerical abuse in the Catholic Church in Colorado, along with other initiatives to support victims. Learn more from Colorado Public Radio here.

NO TURNING BACK: 20 Democratic AGs led by California AG Xavier Becerra filed a brief in support of a lawsuit brought by Al Otro Lado, a nonprofit legal service provider, challenging the Trump administration’s southern border policy which denies individuals access to the asylum process at ports of entry. “Families fleeing violence and persecution deserve to be treated fairly—not lied to and pushed back into danger,” said AG Becerra.

STANDING BY STUDENTS: DAGA Co-Chair Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum is leading the charge in her state to regulate student loan services to protect student borrowers. According to the Statesman Journal, AG Rosenblum is backing a proposal that would regulate student loan services and force them to be licensed under the state. It would also create a student loan ombudsperson to help borrowers navigate a complex loan process. “Graduates are often asked to make financial decisions with relatively poor information, and in a market where debt servicers are ultimately calling the shots,” AG Rosenblum said during a press conference

EXTRA CREDIT: Netflix’s Patriot Act with Hasan Minaj outlined the threat of the student debt crisis and gave a nod to Democratic AGs for looking after student borrowers. Watch the episode titled “Student Loans” here.

NO DISCRIMINATION ZONE: New York AG Tish James and Washington AG Bob Ferguson led a coalition of 21 Democratic AGs to file a brief in defense of a transgender student facing discrimination. “No student should ever dread going to school for fear of being bullied or discriminated against because of how they identify,” AG James said in a statement.
