DEM AG WIN: SNAP BENEFITS
Over the weekend, Democratic AGs led by District of Columbia AG Karl Racine and New York AG Tish James won a preliminary injunction against the Trump administration’s attempt to kick more than 700,000 Americans off of the SNAP program. “This is a major victory for our country’s most vulnerable residents who rely on SNAP to eat,” said AG Racine. JOINT COVID-19 ACTION
Democratic AGs, led by California AG Xavier Becerra, Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and New York AG Tish James, sent a letter to President Trump demanding his administration take immediate action on the manufacturing of additional safety materials (masks, eye protection, gowns, gloves etc.). The letter urged the federal government to take a larger leadership role by mobilizing the business community to rapidly produce more protective equipment for health care workers during the COVID—19 outbreak. On Wednesday, President Trump announced he was using his authority to invoke the Defense Production Act allowing the federal government to sign contracts and fulfill orders deemed necessary for national defense.
