“THE WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY”
Missouri’s Republican AG Eric Schmitt was slammed by the Kansas City Star’s Editorial Board after announcing he would personally seek a dismissal of the criminal case involving the white Missouri couple who went viral for brandishing weapons at peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters. Simultaneously, AG Schmitt is opposing a new trial for Lamar Johnson, a Black man who remains in maximum-security prison for a crime that, according to recent reporting, “he almost certainly did not commit.” This juxtaposition is just one of many examples of AG Schmitt standing on “the wrong side of history.” This November, Missourians can vote AG Schmitt out of office and elect a Democratic AG who is committed to justice and equal protection under the law for all. ENDORSEMENT CORNER

• INDIANA: Democratic AG nominee Jonathan Weinzapfel was endorsed by the United Autoworkers Region 2B.
• MONTANA: Democratic AG nominee Raph Graybill was endorsed by the Montana National Organization for Women.
• OREGON: AG Rosenblum was endorsed by COIN, the Consolidated Oregon Indivisible Network, a central hub for Indivisible groups in the state.
• WEST VIRGINIA: Democratic AG nominee Sam Petsonk was endorsed by the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters.

PROTECTING THE VULNERABLE
New York AG Letitia James, California AG Xavier Becerra and DAGA Co-Chair Massachusetts AG Maura Healey led a coalition of 23 Democratic AG in a lawsuit against the Trump Administration’s reversal of Obama-era health care protections, including safeguards for women, those with limited English proficiency, and transgender people. Trump’s new rule would undermine existing protections and allow health care providers and insurance companies the ability to refuse treatment based on gender identity, which the Democratic AGs say qualifies as unconstitutional on the basis of sex discrimination. “The COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately impacting some of our most vulnerable residents, yet this White House is moving forward with a rule that puts these communities at even further risk,” said AG Healey. PRESERVING THE PLANET
California AG Xavier Becerra, Washington AG Bob Ferguson, and New York AG Letitia James led a coalition of 21 Democratic AGs in a lawsuit challenging the Environmental Protection Agency’s unlawful rollback of states’ authority to protect their water and keep rivers and waterways clean. The Dem AGs say the rollback violates the Clean Water Act which allows states to block federally approved projects that can harm their water. In the past, states have been able to protect against projects that put the environment in danger. “Once again, the Trump Administration is attempting to undermine the Clean Water Act – this time by limiting longstanding state authority to protect our waters from degradation tied to federally approved projects,” AG Becerra said. In response to Black Lives Matter demonstrations in cities across the country, the Trump Administration, including the Department of Homeland Security, decided to send unmarked, federal law enforcement officers to intervene in places President Trump called “out of control.” In response to reports of unlawful detainment and arrest of Portland demonstrators, DAGA Co-Chair Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum called actions by the Department of Homeland Security and other federal law enforcement agencies unconstitutional because these unmarked agents are unlawfully detaining and arresting demonstrators without probable cause. “These tactics must stop. They not only make it impossible for people to assert their First Amendment rights to protest peacefully.
