Statement from DAGA Co-Chairs on Trump’s Dangerous Comments on Vote-By-Mail

September 17, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) Co-Chairs Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum released a statement following President Trump, once again, spreading dangerous and incorrect information (here & here) this morning regarding the security and integrity of voting-by-mail.

Statement from Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum, Co-Chairs of the Democratic Attorneys General Association

“The greatest threat to our election integrity lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Trump’s lies, corruption, and disrespect for voters is simply un-American.”

“Voting-by-mail has been in place since the Civil War, and many states—including those overseen by both Republican and Democratic officials—have incorporated vote-by-mail for decades without fraud or abuse. This country has held elections during World Wars, economic recessions, and now we will again rise to the challenge.”

“Our message to voters remains the same: vote. Your vote will be counted, we will use every legal tool available to make sure of that.”

“Democratic Attorneys General will continue to speak up and work hard to protect the integrity of the upcoming election. It’s long past time Republican AGs do the same. If they do not, they are actively undermining our democracy.”

Our democracy can't wait.
