Washington, DC — Happy election day, Michigan! Last night at his rally in Ohio, former President Donald Trump name-dropped his close ally and endorsed candidate for Attorney General in Michigan, far-right GOP nominee Matt DePerno. At that same rally, Trump lawyer Christina Bobb said that Trump’s extreme picks will try to declare victory as votes are being counted.

We know that we can expect DePerno, who is notoriously known for spreading lies about the 2020 election and our democracy, to push this same type of disinformation tonight as he did two years ago.

As Barb McQuade, University of Michigan Law professor and former US Attorney stated in response, don’t fall for it. Whatever Matt DePerno says tonight, we must count every legal vote.
