DAGA Applauds Michigan AG Dana Nessel on Crucial Re-Election Victory

November 9, 2022

Washington, DC — The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) applauds Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel on her critical re-election victory. AG Nessel defeated “Big Lie” supporter Matt DePerno, a candidate facing massive legal issues in addition to his opposition to free and fair elections and reproductive rights. Michigan voters trust AG Nessel and know that she’ll continue to build on the great success she’s achieved in her first four years on the job.

Statement from Geoff Burgan, Communications Director, Democratic Attorneys General Association:

“We applaud Attorney General Nessel for her resounding re-election victory, and more importantly the work she has done for the people of Michigan these past four years. AG Nessel has been a tireless fighter for all Michiganders. She’s led the fight for reproductive rights, taken on companies that prey on consumers and seniors, and put predators behind bars. Her win is also vital to fighting climate change and preserving democracy in Michigan and across this country. AG Nessel has also been a champion of civil rights. She created the first-ever Hate Crimes Unit and first-ever Domestic Terrorism Unit in the Office of the Attorney General and helped Michigan become a more welcoming, inclusive place where all people can feel safe to live, work, and love. And she made history when she was elected in 2018 as the first openly LGBTQ+ AG in the state.

“There is no doubt AG Nessel will continue to be a fierce champion for keeping the people of Michigan safe and we look forward to her continuing to serve as a leader for the state and on our team.”
