Anthony Brown was sworn in as Maryland Attorney General on January 3, 2023. He is the first Black American elected Attorney General of the state. Anthony grew up in Huntington, New York before attending Harvard University and Harvard Law School. In between undergraduate and law school, he served active duty in the military for the U.S. Army as an army aviator. Upon graduation from Harvard Law, he clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces before entering private practice, where he consistently represented the most vulnerable in cases for victims of sexual harassment in the workplace, children, and those who could not afford representation.
Anthony served in the Maryland House of Delegates before running for Lieutenant Governor under Martin O’Malley. He later ran for the U.S. House of Representatives, where he represented Maryland’s 4th Congressional district from 2017-2023. In both the General Assembly and the U.S. House, he served on the Ethics Committees.
Anthony is a retired Colonel from the Army Reserves where he served three decades as an aviator and Judge Advocate General.
