Washington, DC — On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court issued an order to maintain current access to the abortion pill mifepristone while the case, Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA, continues through the lower courts. Over the weekend, Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark joined MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin to discuss the critical role she is playing in protecting abortion access in her state, as well as the broader efforts of Democratic Attorneys General to push back against the Republican-led attacks on mifepristone and medication abortion access.

Vermont AG Charity Clark said, “Here’s what I know coming from Vermont, the very same day that I was elected Attorney General, voters in Vermont also voted overwhelmingly to enshrine a right to abortion in our state’s constitution. And I mean, literally, every single town in Vermont voted by majority to enshrine that right in our constitution. Even in those towns where in the past, the town has by majority voted for Donald Trump for president.” AG Clark continues, “So I was given a very clear mandate by Vermonters, and that is protect our abortion rights.”

AG Clark also added, “So going forward, I know what I have to do, and I’ll be a part of any effort, nationally and of course, you know, locally, and specifically in Washington to make sure that our right is protected.”
