DAGA Endorses Lindsey Cheek for Louisiana Attorney General
August 22, 2023
Cheek is Running to be an Attorney General for All Louisianans
Washington, DC — Today, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) announced the endorsement of Lindsey Cheek to be the next Attorney General of Louisiana. Cheek is a New Orleans-based attorney and the founder of The Cheek Law Firm. Cheek is a fighter for justice, recovering over $60 million in settlements on behalf of her clients, and serving on the Executive Committee of the Louisiana Association for Justice and on the Board of Governors for the American Association for Justice. As a nationally-recognized personal injury lawyer, mentor to law students, and faculty member at Tulane Law School’s Trial Advocacy Program, Cheek understands the importance of serving Louisianans.
DAGA is proud to endorse an all-female slate of Attorney General candidates this year: Colonel Pam Stevenson in Kentucky, Lindsey Cheek in Louisiana, and Greta Kemp Martin in Mississippi.
Statement from DAGA President Sean Rankin:
“As Attorney General, Lindsey Cheek will put people above politics, and we are proud to endorse her as Louisiana’s next Attorney General. Jeff Landry took the office in the wrong direction with his term being marked by scandal — from a disturbing sexual harassment claim against his office to attacks on working men and women all across the state, and attempting to rip pre-existing conditions protections away from more than 800,000 Louisianans. This open seat presents an opportunity for Democrats to take it back and replace him with someone who will protect Louisianans and fight for their rights. Cheek has delivered win after win on behalf of her clients, and as Attorney General, she will deliver wins on behalf of all Louisianans. Cheek is a fighter for justice, and we look forward to seeing her become Louisiana’s next Attorney General.”
Statement from Lindsey Cheek, Democratic Candidate for Attorney General in Louisiana:
“I’m honored to receive DAGA’s endorsement in our campaign to become Louisiana’s next Attorney General. My reason for running is simple: to be a true People’s Lawyer, advocating for the rights and freedoms of every Louisianan. I will be a tireless leader in protecting Louisianans’ rights, safeguarding our environment, and keeping our families safe. I look forward to working with DAGA to become Louisiana’s People’s Lawyer this November.”
