DAGA Statement on SCOTUS Medication Abortion Ruling

June 13, 2024

Washington, DC — Today, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a ruling that maintains current access to the abortion pill mifepristone. Again, access to mifepristone remains unchanged. Democratic Attorneys General have been fighting back against recurring attacks on mifepristone and medication abortion access, winning a preliminary injunction in their own case last year that helped protect access amidst ongoing attacks.

Statement from Nevada AG Aaron Ford and Delaware AG Kathy Jennings, DAGA Co-Chairs:

“Today, the Supreme Court resoundingly rejected this attack on mifepristone, which is a safe, effective way to end a pregnancy, as it has been for decades. This case lacked merit from the start, and while we are pleased to see today’s decision that will keep access to mifepristone in place, we know these attacks will not stop. Anti-abortion activists and politicians, including Republican Attorneys General, will continue their efforts to restrict abortion access at every turn. Americans can rest assured that Democratic Attorneys General will never back down from these fights and will continue to use every legal tool we can to protect and expand access to abortion.”
