DAGA Statement on the End of the Historic Biden-Harris Administration

January 17, 2025

Washington, DC – Today, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) released the following statement reflecting on the historic Biden-Harris administration.

Statement from DAGA Co-Chairs Delaware AG Kathy Jennings and Illinois AG Kwame Raoul:

“The Biden-Harris administration came to office during a polarizing and tumultuous time in American life and politics. And over these past four years, this administration worked around the clock to deliver relief to all Americans. Whether it was tackling inflation with the Inflation Reduction Act, restabilizing the economy and giving direct financial support through the American Rescue Plan, or investing in the future of American jobs and innovation through the CHIPS and Science Act – it’s clear the Biden-Harris administration achieved historic progress for our country.

“As Democratic Attorneys General, our offices across the country have played a vital role in working alongside the administration and protecting the accomplishments and initiatives it brought forward. Such initiatives included defending and promoting the Affordable Care Act to provide accessible health care to millions, combating the opioid and fentanyl crisis, protecting abortion and private health information, closing ghost gun loopholes, and, most importantly, preserving and safeguarding our democracy. It has been our honor as Democratic AGs to partner with President Biden and Vice President Harris to serve all Americans.

“While we know these next four years with the Trump administration won’t be easy, we are committed to standing up for our democracy and civil liberties, serving as protectors of people’s rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution. Democratic AGs were the last line of defense against Trump’s excesses eight years ago, and we will be that defense again – for all Americans.

“Thank you President Biden and Vice President Harris for your unwavering commitment to the American people, instilling hope in times of fear, and leading the country with compassion, determination, and courage.”
