The Republican nominee for Minnesota attorney general won't stand up to Trump
WASHINGTON, DC – Far-right extremist and Republican nominee for Minnesota attorney general Ron Schutz continues to show Minnesotans how he’ll be a rubber stamp for Trump on everything from ICE to dismantling our democracy.
If Minnesotans are wondering where Schutz stands on Trump, here’s the answer: He’s stood with Trump every step of the way.
- In a on-air interview with a local news station, when asked if Schutz would sue Trump if he broke the law Schutz said “And that’s something I certainly can’t answer in the abstract […] I doubt President Trump is going to be taking some action that would be blatantly illegal…”
- In a column in the Minnesota Reformer, Editor-in-Chief J. Patrick Coolican wrote “I asked Schutz’s campaign […] if any, of the more than 70 lawsuits filed by [AG Keith] Ellison against the Trump administration that Schutz would drop or continue. Schutz didn’t respond.”
- Schutz went after AG Keith Ellison and said he was “wasting taxpayer money” by suing to stop the ICE surge in Minnesota following the murder of Renee Good by ICE agents
- Schutz also suggested he would seek Trump’s endorsement in the AG race and saw the White House as “playing a role in this race.”
- When asked about his thoughts on Trump deploying troops to American cities, Schutz said “that’s ok with me.”
