John Gordon Raking in Major Attention Ahead of Incumbent AG Chris Carr

Washington, DC – Donald Trump has completely upended the Georgia electoral landscape – especially for AG Chris Carr. On Tuesday, Trump endorsed John Gordon, a little-known attorney who has spouted election conspiracy theories from his first days in the race, over the incumbent Attorney General. This is a nightmare scenario for Carr, with two long months still to go until Georgia’s primary.

Here’s a look at some of the major press attention Gordon’s received since Tuesday evening. And after Saturday’s Trump rally in Georgia, this is only the start of a very, very ugly spring for Georgia AG Chris Carr.

The New York Times: “Other Trump-backed Georgia Republicans are facing challenging primaries, including John Gordon, who entered the attorney general’s race only days ago and is being advised by Corey Lewandowski, Mr. Trump’s first 2016 campaign manager.”

NBC News“Trump brought up election fraud this week when he yanked his endorsement in the Alabama Senate race from GOP Rep. Mo Brooks, who later claimed Trump asked to be reinstated to the presidency late last year. Trump also raised the issue when he endorsed Gordon in the Georgia attorney general’s race.”

Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “The latest beneficiary of Trump’s blessing is John Gordon, a conservative lawyer who announced his challenge to Attorney General Chris Carr with effusive praise for Trump. Gordon renewed his expired law license last year to help Trump’s failed legal challenge of the Georgia election results and recently told WDUN that ”there is no question in my mind that Donald Trump won Georgia.”

Georgia Public Broadcasting“Trump endorses another down-ballot candidate in Georgia’s Republican primaries. The former president endorsed John Gordon for attorney general. The move targets close ally of Gov. Brian Kemp, incumbent Chris Carr.”
