Dem AGs Release Letter of Support for Harris for President

Washington, DC — Today, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States. In addition to DAGA’s support, 22 Democratic Attorneys General, who previously endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, released a joint-letter of support. Read the letter from the coalition of Democratic AGs here.

Statement from Sean Rankin, President of Democratic Attorneys General Association:

“Today, we endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States. Vice President Harris is the most qualified person to serve as President. She is an experienced prosecutor, an accomplished public servant, and a capable leader. I’ve admired the Vice President for a long time, and I recall her accomplishments and successes when she served as California Attorney General. She always put the public interest and the pursuit of justice first, just as she did as a U.S. Senator and now as Vice President.

“The choice between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is clear. When Vice President Harris is elected as our next President, Democratic Attorneys General and the Democratic Attorneys General Association will be committed partners on critical issues, including abortion rights, gun safety, and democracy protection. And in order for that to happen, we will work every day from today through her inauguration to ensure she becomes the next President of the United States. Madam Vice President, we have your back. Let’s go win.”

In the open letter from the coalition of Democratic Attorneys General, the AGs write, “Vice President Harris’s actions while state Attorney General demonstrate her priorities and commitment to fairness. As Attorney General, Vice President Harris stood up for homeowners harmed by big banks during the foreclosure crisis. She obtained more than a billion dollars in penalties and relief for students fleeced by for-profit colleges. She won millions of dollars in settlements from oil companies that broke laws designed to prevent contamination of soil and groundwater. In short, she prioritized the public interest and the pursuit of justice for all people, just as we know that she will as President.”

They conclude, “We know Kamala Harris. And we know that as a former Attorney General, she has what it takes to win the election and lead our nation. This year represents an historic choice between a convicted felon and an experienced prosecutor. A choice between someone dedicated to deceit and self-aggrandizement and someone dedicated to honesty and public service. We choose Kamala Harris.
