Democratic attorneys general are the driving force behind defending the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution for all Americans against Trump’s attacks

WASHINGTON, DC – The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) released the following statement on the one-year anniversary of Trump taking office. As the administration continuesto trample over the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution, Democratic AGs have been working tirelessly to put an end to Trump’s chaotic, unlawful policies and prevent further harm to Americans. Together, Democratic AGs have filed a total of 77 lawsuits and continue to secure big wins in the courts against a lawless administration.

Statement from DAGA Co-Chairs Illinois AG Kwame Raoul and Minnesota AG Keith Ellison:

“In the year since Donald Trump took office, Democratic attorneys general have acted as a united front in stopping Trump’s executive federal overreach and the administration’s abuse of power. Thanks to months of legal preparation, we have worked tirelessly to enforce the rule of law, protect the rights and freedoms for all Americans, and defend democracy, all while delivering results to our constituents in our respective states. Through holding the administration accountable for its illegal actions, Democratic AGs have saved our states billions of dollars in funding, from medicalresearch funds and public education to lifesaving programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). If this past year has taught us anything, it’s that it matters who Americans have as their state attorney general.

“As we look to the year ahead, we must pay attention to the critical attorney general races across the country. From Arizona to Kansas, it is of the utmost importance to keep seats in Democratic hands and flip seats back to blue in order to elect more leaders who will preserve our democracy. There is a lot of work ahead, and Americans can trust that Democratic AGs will continue to work together to protect the rule of law and defend their constitutional rights.”
