DAGA Co-Chairs Criticize SCOTUS Decision on 303 Creative v. Elenis
June 30, 2023
WASHINGTON, DC — The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) released the following statement today after the Supreme Court’s decision in 303 Creative v. Elenis. Democratic Attorneys General from 20 states filed an amicus brief in this case.
Statement from DAGA Co-Chairs Delaware AG Kathy Jennings and Nevada AG Aaron Ford:
“Today’s decision represents another stain on this Court’s record of defending and protecting the rights of all Americans – especially our LGBTQ+ community. Millions of Americans have been rightly concerned that the floodgates would open to a raft of legal challenges to vital LGBTQ+ protections. Between rulings like this, waves of extreme and hateful legislation, and an increase in anti-LGBTQ+ threats and violence, the fact is that this is indeed a frightening time for the LGBTQ+ community.
“We have a message to the LGBTQ+ community: you are not alone. We will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you and fight back against these threats with the same spirit that marked the historic Obergefell victory, the state fights for marriage equality and non-discrimination, and so much more. We are with you, and these fights are far from over.”
