DAGA Co-Chairs Respond to Trump Naming Matt Gaetz as his Nominee for U.S. Attorney General
November 15, 2024
Washington, DC – The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) released the following statement on Donald Trump declaring that Rep. Matt Gaetz will be his nominee for United States Attorney General.
Statement from DAGA Co-Chairs Nevada AG Aaron Ford and Delaware AG Kathy Jennings:
“The selection of Matt Gaetz to be U.S. Attorney General is extremely disturbing. Gaetz appears to have never actually prosecuted a case, allowed his law license to lapse, and has faced serious allegations of sexual misconduct and child trafficking. For him to serve as the nation’s top law enforcement official is not just an insult to the office and those who have previously held it, but also an insult to the rule of law. The role of the U.S. Attorney General is one that bears heavy responsibility and requires someone who has the qualifications to lead the nation’s most powerful arbiter of justice. Matt Gaetz does not have those qualifications. He should be nowhere near the office of the Attorney General.”
