Governor-elect Ford becomes the state's first Black governor
WASHINGTON, DC – The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) congratulates Governor-elect Aaron Ford on his historic win. Governor-elect Ford will continue to build upon his work as AG by putting Nevada at the forefront of his agenda to strengthen the economy and protect the rights and freedoms of every hard-working Nevadan. Governor-elect Ford will also become the state’s first Black governor.
Statement from Sean Rankin, DAGA President:
“We are excited to congratulate Governor-elect Aaron Ford on his outstanding victory to be the next governor of Nevada. Governor-elect Ford has been an integral part of DAGA, having served four years as DAGA’s Co-Chair. As AG, Ford ensured Nevadans were protected by consistently defending voting rights, standing up to bad actors, and protecting healthcare access at every turn. As rights and freedoms are under attack from the illegal power grabs from the Trump administration, Ford has consistently fought back, protecting vulnerable communities and keeping in place millions of dollars in funding for the people of his state. He has left a lasting impression and immense legacy in the AG’s office, and we are excited to see what incoming AG-elect Nicole Cannizzaro will accomplish in partnership with Governor-elect Ford in the years ahead. The future of Nevada is brighter with these incredible leaders.
“Thank you, Aaron, for your commitment and dedication to DAGA. You have been an integral part of this organization and its work, and I’m thankful for your friendship.”
