DAGA Endorses Eli Savit for Michigan Attorney General

June 26, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) announced its endorsement of Eli Savit to serve as Michigan’s next attorney general. Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Savit has dedicated his career to fighting for the people of Michigan. As Senior Legal Counsel for the City of Detroit, he fought for Detroit schoolchildren, and then as elected Prosecuting Attorney for Washtenaw County, he built a transformational office focused on protecting workers and consumers. As Attorney General, Savit will bring that same relentless advocacy to the state’s top law enforcement office.

Statement from Sean Rankin, DAGA President:

“Eli Savit is an accomplished and experienced prosecutor who has dedicated his career to fighting for justice, which is why DAGA is proud to endorse him for Michigan attorney general. As Washtenaw County prosecutor, he took on tough cases involving sexual assault and domestic violence. He established dedicated units for victims of crime, successfully prosecuted cold-case rape cases, and built the only stand-alone worker and consumer protection unit in a prosecutor’s office in the entire state. He has litigated at every level of the state and federal judiciary to protect reproductive freedom and personally helped overturn Michigan’s antiquated abortion ban. He has sued polluters, fought wage theft, and championed civil rights. Eli Savit is the clear choice in this race.

“I also want to thank AG Dana Nessel for her years of hard work and dedication to the people of Michigan while serving as their attorney general. She has been a fierce champion, prosecuting violent criminals, defending voting and civil rights, and fighting tirelessly for reproductive freedom for all. We look forward to supporting her in her future endeavors.”

Statement from Eli Savit, Democratic Nominee for Attorney General in Michigan:

“I am honored to receive DAGA’s endorsement in the upcoming election for Attorney General of Michigan. I’m running to stand up for all Michiganders and deliver results for working families.

“I will safeguard our Constitution and protect our voting rights and civil rights. I will combat corporate misconduct—whether it’s protecting the environment from corporate polluters, taking on bosses who steal from workers, or litigating against companies who unlawfully price gouge their customers. As their next AG, I will continue to show up for Michiganders, just as I’ve done my entire career. I look forward to working alongside DAGA to win this race in November and keep this seat blue.”
