Democratic Attorneys General Association Endorses Greg Stumbo for Kentucky Attorney General

August 30, 2019

Stumbo is an Experienced Public Servant and Lawyer with the Court Room Qualifications Kentuckians Need in Their Attorney General

WASHINGTON, D.C
.— The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) endorsed Greg Stumbo for Kentucky Attorney General today. Stumbo served as Kentucky Speaker of the House from 2009 to 2017 and was Kentucky Attorney General from 2004 to 2008. As Attorney General, Stumbo was one of the first state Attorneys General to hold the opioid industry accountable for their role in the opioid crisis and filed one of the first lawsuits against Purdue Pharmaceuticals that led to a settlement for the people of Kentucky.

Statement from Sean Rankin, Executive Director of the Democratic Attorneys General Association:

“We are proud to support Greg Stumbo for Kentucky Attorney General. As a Kentuckian with a lot of family in the Commonwealth, I want to make sure the people of Kentucky have an Attorney General who will put them first, and Greg Stumbo will keep faith with Kentucky families and communities.”

“As a seasoned attorney and public servant, Stumbo knows how to win in the court room and has years of experience protecting and defending the people of Kentucky. The same can’t be said for Mitch McConnell’s protégé Daniel Cameron, who isn’t qualified as a lawyer to represent the Commonwealth on any matter.”

As part of DAGA’s support, the committee will be investing resources in Kentucky and using tools like DAGA’s first-of-its-kind volunteer-to-text program, which has the ability to reach hundreds of thousands of Kentucky voters. Earlier this month DAGA released polling on the Kentucky Attorney General race. The poll found Greg Stumbo has a 7-point lead over Cameron.
