DAGA Endorses Jay Jones for Virginia Attorney General
June 18, 2025
WASHINGTON, DC – Following his primary win, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) announced their endorsement of Jay Jones for Attorney General of Virginia. Jones is a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates, where he authored legislation creating the “Ashanti Alert,” that established a missing persons alert for the state. Jones also served as an Assistant Attorney General for DC in the Office of Consumer Protection, where he took on the gun lobby to protect families and communities. Jones has always worked for his constituents and will continue to protect the rights and freedoms of all Virginians.
Statement from Sean Rankin, President of Democratic Attorneys General Association:
“Jay Jones is an accomplished litigator who has spent his career as a public servant dedicated to protecting families and consumers, which is why DAGA is proud to endorse him to serve as the next Attorney General of Virginia. As a former Virginia House of Delegates member, he worked to protect abortion and reproductive rights, broaden Medicaid, and give teachers annual pay raises. He also staunchly protected voting rights and has promoted clean energy and policies to safeguard our environment.
“Jones is ready to take on tough fights, including working with fellow Democratic attorneys general to push back on Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s unlawful actions that hurt Virginians. As Attorney General, Jones will build on his work to defend democracy, the rule of law, and we look forward to helping elect him as the state’s next Attorney General and flipping this seat back to blue.”
Statement from Jay Jones, Democratic Nominee for Attorney General in Virginia:
“I’m honored to receive DAGA’s support in this upcoming election for Attorney General. Virginia is in need of a leader who will do the right thing and stand up for the people of this great Commonwealth. I have a proven track record of advocating for vulnerable communities and protecting consumers with proven results. I will take on the Trump administration and uphold civil rights to ensure all Virginians feel safe and protected in our state. I look forward to working closely with DAGA to win in November and flipping this seat back to Democratic hands.”
