DAGA Statement on Arizona GOP AG Primary Results

AG Kris Mayes will face off against right-wing extremist Warren Petersen

WASHINGTON, DC – After a messy primary chock full of mudslinging and immature attacks, the Arizona GOP has chosen election-denier and anti-abortion extremist Sen. Warren Petersen as their nominee. Petersen has a long history of playing partisan games rather than looking out for the people of Arizona, consistently failing to act in their best interests.

Statement from Lottie Ash, DAGA Political Director:

“Warren Petersen has spent his career pushing extreme partisan politics and is a threat to the rights and fundamental freedoms of Arizonans. From advocating for a near-total abortion ban, to wasting $4 million of Arizona taxpayer dollars in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election, and saw Trump’s illegal and disastrous tariffs as a tool to ‘enact positive changes.’ Petersen is unfit to be Arizona’s attorney general.

“While Petersen has actively made the lives of Arizonans more difficult, Attorney General Kris Mayes has delivered real results for the people of Arizona. AG Mayes has gone after bad actors who prey upon the vulnerable communities that put Arizonans’ livelihoods at risk and restored $1.5 billion  back into Arizona’s robust economy. AG Mayes has proven that her priority has always been Arizona, and we’ll ensure she’s re-elected come November.”
