Democratic AGs remain committed to protecting and expanding reproductive rights and abortion access
Washington, DC – Today, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) released the following statement on what would have marked the 52nd anniversary of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade.
Statement from DAGA Co-Chairs Delaware AG Kathy Jennings and Illinois AG Kwame Raoul:
“Even before Roe v. Wade was overturned by Republican-appointed justices over two years ago, Democratic Attorneys General across the country have worked fiercely to protect and expand abortion access and reproductive freedom. On today’s anniversary, with President Trump back in office and MAGA Republicans controlling all branches of the federal government, Americans can trust that Democratic Attorneys General will continue this fight.
“We remain on the front lines of preserving reproductive freedom and abortion access – whether that’s going to court to overturn draconian anti-abortion laws, working with our state legislatures to pass legislation expanding access, or pushing back on Republican AG-led efforts to attack reproductive health care.
“We know efforts to restrict abortion care are far from over. From targeting and prosecuting doctors, attacking access to abortion medication, or going after people’s private reproductive health care information, we will always stand up to any threats to control a person’s fundamental freedom to control their own body. No matter what comes next, Democratic AGs and candidates will never waver in our commitment to protect and expand people’s fundamental rights and freedoms.”
