TAKING ON TRUMP ON TITLE X: This week, 23 Democratic AGs challenged the #Trump administration’s new Title X “Gag Rule”.  If implemented, these new rules would significantly restrict access to reproductive health services for women and families and even bar providers like Planned Parenthood from referring patients for abortions.

• Additionally, on Tuesday, Washington AG Bob Ferguson filed a parallel lawsuit opposing the administration’s rule. “This is a transparent attack on Planned Parenthood that disproportionately harms low-income women in rural Washington,” said AG Ferguson. My office will stand up for Washington women to challenge this unlawful presidential action.”

SAVING THE CENSUS: California AG Xavier Becerra scored another win this week when a second federal judge ruled that the Trump administration’s proposed addition of the citizenship question on the 2020 Census was unconstitutional, blocking the question from appearing on the census questionnaire. “Justice has prevailed for each and every Californian who should raise their hands to be counted in the 2020 Census without being discouraged by a citizenship question,” said AG Becerra of the recent ruling.  Learn more from NPR here.

“I FEEL LIKE I KNOW YOU”: During President Trump’s address to state AGs during the National Association of Attorneys General winter meeting in D.C. this week, President Trump personally acknowledged DAGA Co-chair District of Columbia AG Karl Racine, thanking him for his work on the First Step Act and noting “Karl..I feel…like I know you.” AG Racine wittily responded, “I feel like I know you, too.” For the full exchange, check out this coverage from the Washington Post.

NATIONAL CONSUMER PROTECTION WEEK: In honor of Consumer Protection Week, Michigan AG Dana Nessel and Colorado AG Phil Weiser released lists of top 10 consumer complaints to help their constituents make well informed decisions about their personal and financial information. Nevada AG Aaron Ford also hosted several events to emphasize consumer protection tips.

CLIMATE FIGHTERS IN ACTION: In conjunction with the State Energy & Environmental Impact Center’s Special Report release, Connecticut AG William Tong, Maryland AG Brian Frosh, Massachusetts AG Maura Healey, and New York AG Tish James joined a press conference to discuss how Democratic AGs are combatting the Trump administration’s attacks on environmental protections.
