August 13, 2020

Former California AG and current U.S. Senator Kamala Harris made history this week becoming the first Black woman and Asian American nominee for Vice President in U.S. history. Following the announcement from the Biden campaign, Democratic AGs moved quickly to announce their support, share personal stories, and impress upon the electorate why Harris’ tenure as California AG gives her the experience needed to succeed as the next Vice President of the United States. DAGA Co-Chairs Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum released a statement immediately following the news about their former AG colleague saying, “We know Senator Harris as a steadfast, pragmatic leader who has spent her entire career fighting for the people.”

  1. New York AG Tish James joined MSNBC’s Morning Joe to talk about the power Democratic Attorneys General have in holding the Trump administration accountable and why Kamala Harris is not only set to succeed as the next VP, but also a candidate who excites the base of the Democratic Party. AG James said, “Democratic Attorneys General at this point in time have been the backbone of our Democracy and Senator Harris knows it well … She has it all. She’s the full package. That’s why she will make a great vice president of these United States.”

  1. California AG Xavier Becerra joined MSNBC’s Meet the Press to discuss the energy among California Democrats following Kamala Harris’ selection as VP, his position of currently serving in Harris’ previous role, and why Harris is ready to be the next Vice President of the United States. AG Becerra said, “Senator Kamala Harris has proven that she knows how to get things done. She’s confident. She’s a strong leader. She is ready to lead on day one.”

  1. DAGA Co-Chair Massachusetts AG Maura Healey joined CNN’s The Lead to talk about the shared experience of state Attorneys General in the fight for our nation’s most vulnerable communities, Kamala Harris’ relationship with the Biden family including late Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, and why Harris is ready to lead the country as the next Vice President of the United States. “The Democratic AG community is so proud and so pleased to see the Biden-Harris ticket. We can’t wait to get started in supporting this terrific ticket.”
