Republican Attacks on Health Care Continue Even as Millions Sign Up for Quality, Affordable Health Care
Washington, DC – Ahead of President Obama and President Biden’s joint event promoting the Affordable Care Act, the Democratic Attorneys General Association is praising their Administrations for their work over the last twelve years to help millions of Americans obtain high-quality, affordable health care coverage. Republicans have spent the last decade, including this election year, attacking health care coverage for millions of Americans, threatening to raise costs on them, while Democratic AGs have successfully defended the ACA in the courts time and again.
Twenty-one Democratic Attorneys General, led by former California AG, and now HHS Secretary, Xavier Becerra, were part of the successful Supreme Court case defending the ACA last year. Republican AGs, led by current Texas AG Ken Paxton and former President Donald Trump, tried to dismantle the ACA, which would have left millions of Americans without health care.
Statement from DAGA Co-Chairs Nevada AG Aaron Ford and Delaware AG Kathy Jennings:
“Today’s event with Presidents Obama and Biden is an important reminder that Democrats have delivered high-quality, affordable health care coverage for millions of Americans nationwide. As Democratic Attorneys General, we’ve been proud to hold the line against Republican attacks on this coverage, including lawsuits led by Republican Attorneys General that would have decimated health care access across the country. As we head towards November’s elections, we’re reminding voters that Democrats are proud to fight for quality, affordable health care access for Americans – while Republicans are fighting to take it away.”
