Democratic Attorneys General Association Congratulates William Tong on Historic Connecticut Attorney General Victory

November 7, 2018

Washington, D.C.— The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) released the following statement from Executive Director Sean Rankin congratulating William Tong on winning the Connecticut Attorney General’s seat. Tong will continue the Democratic leadership of the Connecticut OAG currently lead by Attorney General George Jepsen. Through its aggressive recruitment for qualified candidates and the launch of the 1881 Initiative, DAGA assembled the most diverse class of attorney general candidates in history including Tong, who will be the first Asian American attorney general in Connecticut.

Statement from Sean Rankin, Executive Director of the Democratic Attorneys General Association:

“We applaud William Tong and his campaign on winning the Connecticut Attorney General race. It was important for Connecticut to elect a leader who will continue the strong work of Attorney General George Jepsen. This race ended up being about who voters can trust to hold those in power accountable. Just like us, voters know that William Tong will serve as a check on Trump and federal roll backs in women’s reproductive rights, the dismantling of healthcare coverage for pre-existing conditions, and efforts to undermine common sense gun safety laws. Tong will work tirelessly to protect the people of Connecticut and put their needs above special interests. We look forward to welcoming Attorney General Tong into our room.”

Our democracy can't wait.
