Washington, DC – Today, following Pennsylvania AG Josh Shapiro announcing his candidacy for the next Governor of the Keystone State earlier this month, Sean Rankin, Executive Director of the Democratic Attorneys General Association, released the following statement:

“Over the past four and a half years, AG Shapiro has served the people of Pennsylvania with tremendous leadership, compassion, and dedication. Today, we endorse him in his run for Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. His record proves that Commonwealth voters can trust him to stand by them and fight for their rights at every turn. As Governor, he’ll continue to build off the great work he started as AG to be the best advocate for all Pennsylvanians. 

“Throughout his tenure, he’s led efforts at the state and national level to defend access to reproductive health care including birth control and abortion, advocate for justice for survivors of assault, work with law enforcement to prevent gun violence, hold special interests accountable, and protect access to affordable health care. He’s also a proven leader in the fight to tackle the opioid crisis and hold powerful institutions accountable to the people.
