Democrats Sweep AG Races
November 4, 2026
An historic night: Democrats won the majority of AG seats, including 5 flips
WASHINGTON, DC – Democratic attorneys general were victorious coming out of the 2026 midterms, winning the majority of AG seats up last night – bringing the current total number of AG seats held by Democrats to 29. Democratic AG candidates flipped five seats from red to blue in Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, and Texas. We had landslide incumbent victories across the board in Arizona, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. And we held onto the battleground states of Michigan and Nevada. Voters everywhere recognized the importance of having a Democratic AG in office and used their voice to elect leaders who will truly act as the Peoples’ Lawyer.
DAGA also broke fundraising records this cycle, investing nearly $35 million across all entities directly into states this cycle, a record-breaking number for DAGA. DAGA raised $17.5 million since October alone.
DAGA also now has a historic number of Democratic women AGs, bringing our total number to 11 women after last night. In addition to AG races, we also have two current AGs and one former AG becoming Governors in Colorado, Nevada, and California, respectively.
Statement from Sean Rankin, DAGA President:
“This is a pivotal moment. Democratic AGs have been the leading national force, challenging the Trump administration’s unlawful agenda, while also shaping national policy to protect Americans where Congress has fallen short. At a time when people are worried about the rising cost of living and their rights and freedoms being put at risk, voters see that it’s Democratic AGs who rise to the challenge and will fight to protect them, no matter what.
“Voters sent a clear message about who they want to fight for them, and that’s Democratic AGs. Congratulations to every AG-elect who will soon be sworn into office, and thank you to every DAGA staffer, campaign staffer, and partner who helped make this moment possible.”
