ELECTION DAY EVE: MAGA Miyares Has Failed Virginians

November 3, 2025

Virginia can’t afford an AG like Miyares who refuses to his job

WASHINGTON, DC – On Friday, a judge sided with all 23 Democratic attorneys general and three Democratic governors to reject Trump’s attempt to cut billions in funding for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) that would have put 42 million Americans at risk of going hungry.

Notably missing from the lawsuit was Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, whose refusal to stand up to Trump has caused families and communities to suffer. This isn’t the first time Miyares has put his blind loyalty to Trump above Virginians. MAGA Miyares did nothing to protect the 300,000+ federal employees who were illegally fired, he failed to preserve $425 million in public health funding for the state, and Miyares didn’t act when $6.8 billion in school funds for education programs were unlawfully frozen.

This is why it matters who Americans have as their state attorney general. Democratic AGs are consistently on the front lines defending their constituents from harm and restoring funds for critical programs, while Republican AGs sit back and allow their states to suffer at the hands of this unlawful administration.

Statement from Carolyn Fiddler, DAGA Director of Communications:

“In a time of profound need, MAGA Miyares did what he’s always done: he turned a blind eye to Virginia’s most vulnerable communities. It is shameful Miyares has had every opportunity to defend Virginians in need, yet he continues to be loyal to Trump, who has done nothing but cause enduring harm to the Commonwealth.

“Virginians deserve an attorney general who will fight to protect them from harm. Jay Jones is the only person for the job, and once elected, he’ll fight for Virginia, not the president.”
