ELECTION REMINDER: What’s at Stake in North Carolina AG Race
October 16, 2024
Rep. Jackson: “It’s not supposed to be about left versus right, it’s just about doing what’s right.”
Washington, DC – As Election Day quickly approaches, the stakes of the Attorney General race in North Carolina could not be higher. And yesterday on X, North Carolina Democratic candidate for Attorney General, Rep. Jeff Jackson, highlighted the stark differences between him and his far-right extremist opponent, Rep. Dan Bishop.
“He [Bishop] wrote the bathroom bill,” Rep. Jackson said. “[He] is against any exception for abortion, including the life of the mother, did a bill to put women’s doctors in prison, has voted against access to birth control several times, and just by the numbers, is one of the most extreme members of Congress.”
Rep. Jackson also sat down with NC Newsline last month to discuss the dangers Rep. Bishop could pose as AG of the state.
“I’m running against the author of HB2 – the Bathroom Bill – which did more economic harm to our state than any other single piece of legislation in my lifetime,” Rep. Jackson told NC Newsline in a separate interview.
“And his only regret about that bill was that it wound up being repealed…frankly I think the amount of damage he would do to the business community as Attorney General…is incalculable…Just the amount of heat that he would bring to our state by treating the Attorney General’s office as an instrument for culture war…you almost can’t imagine.”
