ICYMI: Ahead of Debate, Arizona GOP AG Primary Gets Dirty
May 28, 2026
Mudslinging war continues between Sen. Warren Petersen and Rodney Glassman ahead of the debate
WASHINGTON, DC – Tonight, two extreme Republican candidates in race for the Arizona attorney general – and 2020 presidential election deniers – State Senator Warren Petersen and Rodney Glassman will go head-to-head in a primary debate hosted by the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission. This debate comes just days after the two candidates were on record hurling juvenile insults at one another and attacking each other’s character in yet another example of GOP infighting.
As the AZ Central reported, “Glassman has attacked Petersen as inexperienced and accused him of inflating his legal resume. Petersen has returned volleys of his own, leveling new and reviving old claims that Glassman has a history of exaggerating his record.”
Key highlights:
- “‘My primary opponent has zero experience as an attorney,’ Glassman said in an interview. ‘He literally has to lie on his website to mislead voters into thinking he has experience.’”
- “…[Petersen] calling Glassman a ‘pathological liar.’”
- “Petersen noted that Glassman’s campaign is being investigated by the Coconino County Attorney’s Office for allegedly accepting more money than is legally allowed from donors.”
- “‘We have no evidence that Rodney is practicing law,’ Petersen said, digging at Glassman’s previous unsuccessful campaigns for office and his time as a Democrat before registering as a Republican. ‘What Rodney has been doing is running for office for 15 years.’”
Petersen and Glassman are prioritizing a mudslinging war over the needs of their constituents. Tune in tonight to see it continue.
