ICYMI: GOP AG Candidate Doug Lloyd Campaigns with Anti-abortion Extremist

October 8, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – Republican nominee for Michigan Attorney General Doug Lloyd attended a campaign event hosted by anti-abortion extremist David Kallman, who represented two prosecutors that attempted to enforce the state’s archaic 1931 abortion ban when Roe v. Wade was overturned.

“Kallman said at the time that his clients were prepared to enforce the 91-year-old abortion ban if law enforcement presented them with legitimate cases,” The Michigan Independent reported. “Lloyd’s association with Kallman sends a message about his views on abortion law as he pursues the role of the state’s top lawyer and chief law enforcement officer.”

If Lloyd feels comfortable associating with anti-abortion extremist leaders at his own campaign events, how can Michigan voters trust that he would actually defend the state’s Constitution, which protects reproductive rights.

Key highlights:

  • “‘There is a valid law that’s on the books. County prosecutors around the state, if a case is brought to them and a doctor performs an abortion and it’s not to save the life of the mother, then they could be prosecuted for that,’ Kallman said in a 2022 NPR interview.

  • “Lloyd’s campaign stop with Kallman comes after other Republican candidates for the highest offices in the state have been caught on tape discussing ways to restrict abortion access in Michigan.”
  • In November 2022, Michigan voters overwhelmingly approved Proposal 3, a ballot measure that amended the state constitution to include the protection of reproductive freedom, superseding the litigation and subsequent appeals.
