WASHINGTON, DC – The Kansas AG race is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched races this election cycle, and Democrats are going all in to unseat Republican Attorney General Kris Kobach as his actions, or rather his lack of action to protect Kansans from harmful policies has spoken volumes in the state. The Topeka Capital-Journal reported on DAGA’s recent poll that found Democratic nominee for attorney general Chris Mann “trailed Kobach by 2 points, 44% to 46%. The Global Strategy Group memo said that despite ‘his limited name recognition,’ ‘Mann is essentially tied with’ Kobach, who ‘must contend with Republican defectors due to his extremely weak personal and performance numbers.’”
As much as Kobach is attempting to vie for his seat, he’s floundering because of his performative actions to score political points and failing attempts to hold the Trump administration accountable. Mann’s campaign said it best: “‘[Kobach] campaigned on taking on the federal government, but when it came time to actually do it, he went silent…’”
Here’s a list of just a few lawsuits Kobach has notably been absent from and failed to protect Kansans from harm
- Kobach did not sue when Trump tried to restrict mail in voting, and instead handed over Kansan’s private voter data to the DOJ
- Kobach did not sue when the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was suspended, threatening millions of Kansan children and families
- Kobach did not sue when the Trump Department of Justice withheld funding for resources to help victims of violent crime
- Kobach did not sue when the Trump administration illegally implemented tariffs that are harming Kansas farmers and causing chaos
The bottom line: Kobach only takes action when it’s politically beneficial to him. Rather than actually protecting Kansans, he is making a last-ditch effort to save his image.
