INFIGHTING, NAME CALLING, ARGUING, OH MY: AZ GOP AG Race Looks Dismal

Three takeaways from the disastrous Republican AG primary debate

WASHINGTON, DC – Last night, instead of answering the questions Arizonans deserve to know, State Senator Warren Petersen and Rodney Glassman were too busy attacking each other’s integrity in a slew of targeted insults and immature attacks at the GOP AG Primary Debate. However, it wasn’t so much of a debate focused on policy or addressing constituent concerns, rather, a contest of who could make the bigger headline.

Here are 3 takeaways from last night’s debate:

  1. Both candidates wasted the majority of the debate attacking one another – including using the first 12 minutes as a bickering war . Petersen doubled down and called Glassman a “pathological liar” and a “joke in the legal community”, Glassman said Petersen had “zero experience” as a practicing attorney
  2. Glassman and Petersen are still staunch election deniers: Both candidates refused to admit that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election. Glassman said “we’ll never know” if there was fraud in the election, falsely implying there was no investigation when in reality his claims have been debunked
  3. Little was discussed about how to solve issues Arizonans face: Rather than focus on how they would better Arizona communities, Petersen and Glassman accused the other of lying about their experience, consistently spoke over one another, and used their closing remarks to compare resumes and undermine each other’s qualifications

While these two candidates were caught up in throwing personal attacks, the Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has been fighting to protect Arizonans’ rights and freedoms. From cracking down on fentanyl to holding fraudsters accountable, AG Mayes has always put Arizona first.

Debate watchers certainly learned more about their GOP AG candidates, and why neither of them should be anywhere near the AG Office.
