WASHINGTON, DC – Tomorrow night, Virginia GOP AG Jason Miyares will take the stage with far-right extremist and candidate for governor Winsome Earle-Sears. This will be the first time the two will campaign together with the entire GOP slate of MAGA candidates. The decision for Miyares to actively campaign with someone as extreme as Earle-Sears raises some serious questions about where he stands on issues important to Virginians.  

Earle-Sears has a proven track record of attacking Virginians’ reproductive freedom and abortion access, writing she was “morally opposed” to the state’s constitutional amendment that would protect abortion, IVF, and contraception access in Virginia. She also supported a near-total abortion ban, including banning abortion without exceptions in cases of rape or incest. When it comes to LGBTQ+ rights, Earle-Sears wrote again she was “morally opposed” to signing a bill that prevented discrimination against same-sex or interracial couples who sought marriage licenses. It doesn’t stop there. Just days after a deadly mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, Earle-Sears was the keynote speaker at an NRA fundraiser. In her 2021 campaign, she posed with a military-style rifle. 

So why has MAGA Miyares aligned himself with someone as out of touch and extreme as Earle-Sears? Does he support her dangerous views on abortion access? Will he hold her accountable to the rule of law if she attempts to trample the Virginia Constitution? And how are Virginians supposed to trust Miyares to do the right thing and stand up for Virginians’ rights when he has failed to speak out against Trump’s and Musk’s lawlessness?  

The bottom line: Miyares’ allyship with Earle-Sears spells disaster for Virginians everywhere. Virginians can’t trust the GOP’s far-right extremist ticket.
