Bombshell Report from Popular Information Reveals RAGA Accepted $ from Leading Anti-Vax Group
Washington, DC — Today, Popular Information’s Judd Legum reported that “The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) accepted an illegal $50,000 contribution from Children’s Health Defense, a leading purveyor of anti-vaccine propaganda run by Robert F Kennedy Jr.”
The report goes on to say, “under the law, Children’s Health Defense is ‘absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.’”
Following today’s reporting, the Democratic Attorneys General Association calls on RAGA to return the illegal contribution.
Statement from Geoff Burgan, Communications Director, Democratic Attorneys General Association:“It is outrageous that RAGA would accept an illegal contribution – much less one from a fringe, anti-vaccine group. We demand that they return this $50,000 contribution immediately.”
Popular Information further reports that, “Children’s Health Defense [CHD] acknowledged paying the fee was illegal.”
In a statement provided to Popular Information, the CHD said that it “paid a fee to be able to educate attorneys general on health policy issues.”
What could CHD be educating Republican AGs on? As Legum says, “The donation also raises serious questions about the relationship between RAGA and Children’s Health Defense, one of the most pernicious and prodigious producers of vaccine misinformation in the world.”
“The organization, according to an Associated Press investigation, ‘uses slanted information, cherry-picked facts and conspiracy theories to spread distrust of the COVID-19 vaccines.’ The Center for Countering Digital Hate named Children’s Health Defense one of the ‘Disinformation Dozen’ responsible for spreading falsehoods about vaccines online. Children’s Health Defense and the others in this group ‘are abusing social media platforms to misrepresent the threat of Covid and spread misinformation about the safety of vaccines.’”
