WASHINGTON, DC – Virginia AG Jason Miyares has received a full endorsement – alongside  his far-right running mate Winsome Earle-Sears – from the National Right to Life Committee, an extreme anti-abortion group that has helped create legislation that would restrict and ban abortion in the United States, even in cases of rape or incest. 

What’s more, when asked by WAVY10 his stance on abortion, Miyares said he supported “a ban” that was already rejected by the Virginia General Assembly.  

Miyares’ endorsement from National Right to Life is another reminder of his dangerous anti-abortion record, including against the Reproductive Health Protection Act, repeatedly trying to defund Planned Parenthood, supporting Governor Youngkin’s 15-week abortion ban, and calling the overturning of Roe v. Wade “good and reasonable.” This is also not the first time Miyares has been supported by anti-choice groups this year – in August, he joined the Family Foundation for an event dedicated to ensuring Virginians don’t get the right to protect abortion access in the Constitution next November.

He’s out of touch with where the majority of Virginians stand on this issue and cannot be trusted to defend Virginians’ access to reproductive health care. Virginia deserves an attorney general who has a plan to uphold and expand reproductive rights and will stop at nothing to protect those who seek to exercise their fundamental freedoms. Virginia needs Jay Jones.”
