NEW: Polling Shows Democratic AGs Pulling Ahead in Battle Ground States Ahead of Election Day

October 20, 2026

With Trump severely underwater, the environment is primed for Dem AGs

WASHINGTON, DC – With just two weeks to go until the midterm elections, Democratic attorney general nominees are vastly outperforming their Republican counterparts across the country in several key races, with Trump becoming increasingly unpopular. As first reported by POLITICO Playbook, “It’s another sign of the potential reach of a Democratic wave in November — including in longtime red states.”

According to a new poll memo from Global Strategy Group, “Polling across seven battleground states – Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin – shows that Democratic candidates for Attorney General have the momentum over their Republican opponents.”

The memo continues, “At a time when voters prioritize the cost of living above all else, Democratic candidates for AG are seen as stronger than their Republican opponents. In every state where we asked these attributes, Democratic AG candidates are seen as better than Republican AG candidates when it comes to standing up to powerful corporations and special interests, fighting for affordable healthcare, and holding data centers accountable.”

In addition to the states listed in the memo, Democratic candidates in Texas and Florida are also over-performing expectations:

  • In Texas, a new poll from University of Texas/Texas Politics Project has Democrat Nathan Johnson ahead of GOP extremist Mayes Middleton 48% to 47%.
  • In Florida, polling from late September shows Democrat Jose Javier Rodriguez within the margin of error from corrupt GOP incumbent James Uthmeier, carrying Latino voters by a 16+ margin.
    • DAGA announced a $5m investment into the state in September, and the Florida Democratic Party released an advertisement attacking Uthmeier for his corruption and misuse of taxpayer funds

Statement from Lottie Ash, DAGA Political Director:

“Voters across the country are ready to elect more Democratic AGs, and we’re ready to win. From holding Trump accountable to defending our rights, freedoms, and democracy, electing Democratic AGs has never mattered more. This is a cycle where voters are demanding that their politicians work for them and not for the wealthy and well-connected, and Democratic AGs do exactly that. The polling is clear, the wind is at our back, and we are going to expand our coalition and keep delivering for the American people.”
