Intro:

Aaron Frey was sworn in as the 58th Attorney General of Maine after being elected by the legislature.

Early Years & Education:

Attorney General Aaron M. Frey was born in Bangor. He lived with his family in Bangor until third grade, at which point he moved to Dixmont. He is a graduate of Nokomis High School in Newport, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire, and he earned a Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law in Rhode Island.

Career Highlights:

Prior to being elected to serve as Maine’s 58th Attorney General, Mr. Frey worked in a private legal practice in Bangor, focusing on matters involving criminal defense and family law. He represented part of Bangor and part of Orono for three terms in the Maine House of Representatives, from 2012 to 2018. In the Legislature, he was a member of the Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee.

Attorney General Accomplishments:

As Attorney General, Frey has worked to hold pharmaceutical companies accountable, address the opioid crisis and joined the multi-state coalition opposing President Trump’s national emergency declaration.

Personal:

The Attorney General is Maine’s chief law enforcement officer and represents the state in legal matters ranging from child support enforcement, civil rights and consumer protection to the prosecution of homicides, felony drug cases and major frauds. The Attorney General is also a member of the Baxter Park Authority, overseeing the 209,000 wilderness acres of the Baxter State Park. Mr. Frey presently resides in Bangor.
