Nathan Johnson is the Democratic nominee for Attorney General of Texas. 

Early Life and Education 

Johnson received his undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Arizona before earning his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  

Career Highlights 

Johnson has served in the Texas Senate since 2019. In that election, he flipped a state Senate seat that had been held by Republicans for decades.  

As a state Senator, he has successfully passed 134 bills into law relating to a range of policy issues. His portfolio covers the state’s electric power grid, public education, healthcare, law enforcement, AI, and many other crucial issues for Texans.  

Accordingly, Johnson authored and passed insurance reform legislation that provided an estimated 350,000 previously uninsured Texans with private health insurance. 

Johnson’s legislative record reflects a consistent emphasis on government transparency, legal clarity, and responsible use of public resources. 

Attorney General Priorities 

As Attorney General, Johnson’s priorities include ending the culture of corruption that currently exists in the Texas AG’s office under Ken Paxton. He also plans to focus on consumer protection and antitrust enforcement to ensure Texans aren’t being taken advantage of by bad actors.  

Johnson’s goal is to make government work for the people it’s supposed to serve by protecting Texans’ rights, partnering with local leaders to improve public safety, and working collaboratively with agencies and businesses across the state. 

Personal Life 

Johnson has three adult children and is well-known for his homemade peanut butter.  

He’s also composed musical scores for the hit anime series Dragon Ball Z.
