RATING SHIFT: Sabato’s Crystal Ball Shifts Additional AG Races Towards Democrats Days Before Midterms

October 29, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – With midterms just around the corner, Sabato’s Crystal Ball has officially shifted more state AG races towards the Democrats, moving Florida and Ohio from Likely Republican to Leans Republican, and Iowa and Georgia from Leans Republican to Toss-up.

Lou Jacobson states “With this update, we’re shifting the ratings of four AG races, all in the Democrats’ direction.”

The recent rating shift indicate that voters are tired of their Republican AGs who constantly put their own extreme partisan agenda first. Come Tuesday, they will make that change.

Other key findings:

  • “These shifts are largely driven by the improving prospects for Democrats in these states…”
  • “In Georgia, the Republican candidate, Brian Strickland, has also been grappling with his connections to a proposed data center project…”
  • “And in Florida, incumbent Republican James Uthmeier is facing continuing fallout from a campaign finance scandal related to the charity Hope Florida.”
