Republican Attorneys General File Federal Lawsuit Challenging LGBTQ+ Students’ Rights

September 2, 2021

Washington, D.C. — The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) released the following statement in response to the Republican state attorneys general lawsuit seeking to repeal LGBTQ+ rights and protections in schools.

Statement from Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Nevada AG Aaron Ford, Co-Chairs of the Democratic Attorneys General Association:

“Republicans across the nation are working overtime in their ongoing culture war against LGBTQ+ people. Their latest lawsuit is no different; it singles out LGBTQ+ students for political gain.

LGBTQ+ people need greater protections and the enforcement of those protections. Republican AG attacks will not go unchallenged. Our Democratic attorneys general embody and represent the power of diversity, and among our 25 Democratic AGs are six women, 11 people of color, and three LGBTQ+ attorneys general.  We will continue to defend the equal rights of all people.”

Our democracy can't wait.
