Ron Schutz is Too Extreme for Minnesota

September 2, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – Ron Schutz, the Republican nominee for attorney general in Minnesota, is running against Democratic AG Keith Ellison to serve in the highest legal office in the state. Schutz is too extreme to serve as attorney general, with ties to far-right groups and blind loyalty to Trump, he cannot be trusted.

Here’s a reminder of just a few of Schutz’s red flags:

  1. Schutz said “that’s ok with me” when asked about his thoughts on Trump deploying troops to American cities
  2. Schutz said he would seek Trump’s endorsement and saw  the White House “playing a role in this race”
  3. Schutz served on the Board of Directors for Center of the American Experiment, a known far-right think tank that has attacked abortion rights and fought to repeal the Affordable Care Act
  4. Schutz aligned himself with Trump and  spread conspiracies about Minnesota’s elections

Schutz is the wrong person for the job and will turn the attorney general’s office into a partisan weapon against the people of Minnesota. Minnesotans deserve better.
