WASHINGTON, DC – The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) congratulates Virginia Attorney General-elect Jay Jones on his win, defeating far-right incumbent Jason Miyares. This is a historic victory as Jones will be Virginia’s first ever Black Attorney General. Virginians have been suffering under Miyares’ inaction around President Trump’s harmful policies, and they voted for a change. That’s why DAGA was committed to flipping this seat blue, investing over $5.5 million in this race across all entities.

“We congratulate AG-elect Jay Jones and his entire campaign team on their win. We thank all the partners in-state and nationally who made this win possible. Republicans spent millions trying to hold this seat for a silent incumbent who failed to stand up to Trump’s agenda that harmed the people of Virginia.   

“We all worked hard to define the choice between Jason Miyares, whose inaction put Virginians’ livelihoods and economy at risk, and Jay Jones, who will hold Trump accountable when he breaks the law and keep Virginians safe.”
