Dem AGs Fighting Climate Crisis, While GOP AGs Playing Politics with Future of our Planet

Washington, DC — Today, the Supreme Court ruled to substantially restrict the federal government’s ability to fight climate change. Democratic Attorneys General are leading the fight when it comes to protecting our planet, people and economy, while Republican Attorneys General continue to put ideology and profits over our health and economy. Democratic AGs serve as vital partners with the Biden Administration, building on their nearly 500 major actions to combat the climate crisis taken during the Trump administration.

Statement from DAGA Co-Chairs Nevada AG Aaron Ford and Delaware AG Kathy Jennings:

“Today, Republican Attorneys General led the fight and won a ruling from the Supreme Court that will exacerbate our climate crisis and devastate the health of Americans everywhere. This ruling has made clear that the fight to protect our environment will be led by the states. Democratic Attorneys General are fighting back against the decades-long, coordinated campaign of Republican politicians in putting ideology over the health and economic security of our people and our planet. They are trying desperately to fight off any sort of regulations that protect our planet, people and economy from the harm coming to us from fossil fuels and pollution. This ruling could have catastrophic effects on our health and the health of future generations, including increased health care costs. Even as we review this ruling, what’s abundantly clear is that anyone who cares about taking on the climate crisis and protecting our environment must support Democratic Attorneys General this fall and in the future.”
