VA AG DEBATE DAY: Jason Miyares Still Refuses to Stand Up for Virginians

October 16, 2025

Questions remain for MAGA Miyares as he heads into the Virginia AG debate

WASHINGTON, DC – Tonight, Virginia voters will see Democratic AG nominee Jay Jones hold Republican AG Jason Miyares’ feet to the fire in the Virginia attorney general debate. With just weeks until election day, MAGA Miyares has spent his entire campaign dodging questions Virginians deserve to know answers to. MAGA Miyares has failed to speak out against the harm done towards Virginia’s federal workforce and economy and refuses to call out Trump for violating the rule of law and Constitution. On top of that, he remains out of touch with Virginians on key issues, including his support for an abortion ban.

Tonight, Virginians deserve answers from MAGA Miyares on the debate stage:

  • Why would MAGA Miyares say he would support an abortion ban even though the majority ofVirginians support abortion access? Is he proud of receiving a full endorsement from a far-right anti-abortion group and having a running mate who has described abortion as “genocide”?
  • Why would MAGA Miyares claim he cares about Virginians while actively ignoring Virginia’s slipping economy and the 300,000 federal workers who are at risk of losing their jobs due to the Trump administration’s illegal mass layoffs?
  • Can Virginians trust someone like Miyares, who laid the groundwork for DC Republicans’ scheme to gut Medicaid that will gut healthcare access in rural communities across Virginia?
  • Does Miyares have a plan to speak out against Trump’s federal government shutdown afterDC Republicans pushed to enact policies that could kick almost 350,000 Virginians off their healthcare plans?

MAGA Miyares has done nothing but sit on the sidelines as Virginia families suffer at the hands of Trump. Miyares continues to put Virginians in harm’s way, allowing Trump’s violations of the rule of law to go unchecked and challenged, refusing to put partisan politics aside and join Democratic attorneys general to do what is right. From losing out on vital public health funding, to putting K-12 students and school funding at risk, Virginia can’t afford an AG like Miyares. He is too weak to do the right thing, and tonight, voters will see that.
